What Hot Stone Massage Is

Hot stone massage uses smooth, heated basalt stones placed on the body and held in the therapist’s hands during massage. The heat penetrates deep into the muscle, relaxing it before the hands-on work begins, so your therapist can release tension that would otherwise take much more pressure. Most people describe it as the most relaxing massage they have had.

Our RMTs offer hot stone sessions as part of our massage therapy service for patients across Cityscape, Skyview Ranch, Redstone, Cornerstone, Savanna, Saddle Ridge and Cornerbrook.

What Hot Stone Massage Helps With

Hot stone massage is most often booked for:

What to Expect in Your Session

Stones are heated in water to a controlled temperature, checked by your therapist, and placed along the spine, in the palms and between the toes while your therapist massages with additional stones and hands. The heat is warm, never hot; tell your therapist if any stone feels too warm. Sessions are 60 or 90 minutes to allow the heat to work fully.

Hot stone is not used over areas of inflammation, recent injury, varicose veins or numbness, or during pregnancy — for expecting parents we recommend prenatal massage instead. For targeted knots, deep tissue massage may be a better fit.

Our Patients Share Their Journey

After my motor vehicle accident, I was dealing with intense neck pain, lower back discomfort, and stiffness that made even simple movements difficult. Coming to Apollo Physio truly made a huge difference in my recovery journey. I received treatment from Vidhi, my physiotherapist, Janki, my massage therapist, and chiropractic care from Dr. Dhaliwal and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Vidhi created a well-structured treatment plan and guided me through exercises that gradually improved my strength and mobility. She explained everything clearly and kept track of my progress at every step. Janki’s massage therapy sessions were incredibly helpful in reducing muscle tightness and relieving pain. After each session, I felt more relaxed and could move more freely. Chiropractic sessions with Dr. Dhaliwal were also a key part of my recovery. His adjustments helped improve my alignment and significantly reduced the stiffness and discomfort I was experiencing. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and made sure I was comfortable throughout each session. Within a few weeks, I noticed major improvements less pain, better movement, and a return to my normal daily routine. The combined approach of physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic care really made the recovery process faster and more effective. The clinic is clean, well organized, and has a very positive and welcoming environment. The front desk staff are friendly and always helpful with booking and insurance related questions. I’m truly grateful to the entire team at Apollo Physio, especially Vidhi, Janki, and Dr. Dhaliwal, for their care and support. I highly recommend them to anyone recovering from a motor vehicle accident or dealing with pain they genuinely care and deliver excellent results.
