What It Is and Why It Happens
Plantar fasciitis is irritation of the thick band of tissue that runs from the heel to the toes and supports the arch. The classic sign is sharp heel pain with the first steps out of bed or after sitting, easing as you warm up, then returning after long periods on your feet. It is common in people who stand for work — warehouse, airport, healthcare, retail — in runners who have increased volume, and in anyone who has gained weight or changed footwear.
It is not caused by a heel spur (many people have spurs with no pain) and it is rarely fixed by rest alone. The fascia needs to be loaded properly, not avoided.
Symptoms and Related Conditions We Treat
Our physiotherapists at Cityscape Square NE assess and treat:
- Sharp heel pain with the first steps in the morning
- Pain after standing or walking for long periods
- Pain that eases with warm-up then returns
- Heel spurs
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Flat feet and fallen arches
- Foot pain from safety boots and hard floors
- Running-related heel and arch pain
How We Treat Plantar Fasciitis
Assessment looks at foot mechanics, calf and ankle mobility, arch control and how you load the foot walking and standing. Treatment combines calf and plantar fascia loading exercises (the strongest evidence for lasting relief), manual therapy and dry needling for the calf, taping for short-term support, footwear advice, and custom orthotics when foot structure is driving the problem — especially for people in safety boots all day. Night splints and activity modification are added when needed.
Most plantar fasciitis improves over 6–12 weeks with consistent loading and support; long-standing cases can take longer. If you have been told shockwave is the answer, ask us — it is a useful add-on for stubborn cases but not a replacement for the loading program.

Our Patients Share Their Journey
After my motor vehicle accident, I was dealing with intense neck pain, lower back discomfort, and stiffness that made even simple movements difficult. Coming to Apollo Physio truly made a huge difference in my recovery journey. I received treatment from Vidhi, my physiotherapist, Janki, my massage therapist, and chiropractic care from Dr. Dhaliwal and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Vidhi created a well-structured treatment plan and guided me through exercises that gradually improved my strength and mobility. She explained everything clearly and kept track of my progress at every step. Janki’s massage therapy sessions were incredibly helpful in reducing muscle tightness and relieving pain. After each session, I felt more relaxed and could move more freely. Chiropractic sessions with Dr. Dhaliwal were also a key part of my recovery. His adjustments helped improve my alignment and significantly reduced the stiffness and discomfort I was experiencing. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and made sure I was comfortable throughout each session. Within a few weeks, I noticed major improvements less pain, better movement, and a return to my normal daily routine. The combined approach of physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic care really made the recovery process faster and more effective. The clinic is clean, well organized, and has a very positive and welcoming environment. The front desk staff are friendly and always helpful with booking and insurance related questions. I’m truly grateful to the entire team at Apollo Physio, especially Vidhi, Janki, and Dr. Dhaliwal, for their care and support.
