What It Is and Why It Happens
Vertigo is the sensation that you or the room is spinning. The most common cause is BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo): tiny calcium crystals in the inner ear drift into the wrong canal and trigger brief, intense spinning with head position changes — rolling over, lying down, looking up. BPPV is diagnosed in the clinic and treated with a repositioning manoeuvre (the Epley or similar), which resolves it for most people within one to three visits.
Other causes we treat include vestibular neuritis, dizziness after concussion or whiplash, cervicogenic dizziness from the neck, and age-related balance decline. The assessment tells them apart.
Dizziness and Balance Problems We Treat
Our physiotherapists at Cityscape Square NE assess and treat:
- BPPV (positional vertigo)
- Vestibular neuritis and labyrinthitis recovery
- Dizziness after concussion or whiplash
- Cervicogenic dizziness (neck-related)
- Vestibular migraine (neck and balance component)
- Unsteadiness and fear of falling
- Motion sensitivity and visual vertigo
- Meniere’s disease (balance rehab between episodes)
How We Treat Vertigo
Assessment includes positional testing (Dix-Hallpike), eye movement and gaze stability tests, balance and gait testing and a neck exam. BPPV is treated on the spot with a repositioning manoeuvre. Other vestibular problems get a customized program of gaze stabilization, habituation and balance exercises — vestibular rehabilitation — progressed over several weeks, plus neck treatment when the cervical spine is contributing.
Dizziness with sudden severe headache, double vision, slurred speech, weakness or numbness needs emergency care. Post-crash dizziness is treated under Section B with our concussion management program. Vestibular initial assessment is $120.

Our Patients Share Their Journey
After my motor vehicle accident, I was dealing with intense neck pain, lower back discomfort, and stiffness that made even simple movements difficult. Coming to Apollo Physio truly made a huge difference in my recovery journey. I received treatment from Vidhi, my physiotherapist, Janki, my massage therapist, and chiropractic care from Dr. Dhaliwal and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Vidhi created a well-structured treatment plan and guided me through exercises that gradually improved my strength and mobility. She explained everything clearly and kept track of my progress at every step. Janki’s massage therapy sessions were incredibly helpful in reducing muscle tightness and relieving pain. After each session, I felt more relaxed and could move more freely. Chiropractic sessions with Dr. Dhaliwal were also a key part of my recovery. His adjustments helped improve my alignment and significantly reduced the stiffness and discomfort I was experiencing. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and made sure I was comfortable throughout each session. Within a few weeks, I noticed major improvements less pain, better movement, and a return to my normal daily routine. The combined approach of physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic care really made the recovery process faster and more effective. The clinic is clean, well organized, and has a very positive and welcoming environment. The front desk staff are friendly and always helpful with booking and insurance related questions.
