What It Is and Why It Happens
Where your hip hurts tells us a lot. Pain on the outside, worse lying on that side or climbing stairs, is usually gluteal tendinopathy or bursitis. A pinching pain in the front of the groin with sitting or deep squats suggests a labral tear or femoroacetabular impingement. A deep, stiff ache that limits how far you can walk and worsens through the day is typical of hip osteoarthritis. Pain in the buttock that runs down the leg may be sciatica or piriformis syndrome rather than the hip at all.
Our physiotherapists assess the joint, the tendons and the low back and pelvis together, so you are treated for the right thing.
Hip Problems We Treat
Our physiotherapists at Cityscape Square NE assess and treat:
- Gluteal tendinopathy and hip bursitis (outer hip pain)
- Labral tears and femoroacetabular impingement (groin pinch)
- Hip osteoarthritis
- Hip flexor and groin strains
- Piriformis syndrome and buttock pain
- SI joint dysfunction
- Post-surgical rehab after hip replacement or arthroscopy
- Hip pain in pregnancy and postpartum
How We Treat Hip Pain
Assessment includes hip range of motion, impingement and labral tests, glute strength and single-leg control, gait and low back screening. Treatment is built on progressive strengthening of the glutes and hip stabilizers — the intervention recommended by clinical guidelines for most hip pain — plus manual therapy, dry needling for tight hip flexors and glutes, deep tissue massage, and activity and sleeping-position advice for tendon problems. Chiropractic is added when the SI joint or low back is contributing.
Pregnancy-related hip and pelvic pain is treated with our pelvic floor physiotherapist and prenatal massage. Post-surgical patients: see pre and post-surgical rehab.

Our Patients Share Their Journey
After my motor vehicle accident, I was dealing with intense neck pain, lower back discomfort, and stiffness that made even simple movements difficult. Coming to Apollo Physio truly made a huge difference in my recovery journey. I received treatment from Vidhi, my physiotherapist, Janki, my massage therapist, and chiropractic care from Dr. Dhaliwal and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Vidhi created a well-structured treatment plan and guided me through exercises that gradually improved my strength and mobility. She explained everything clearly and kept track of my progress at every step. Janki’s massage therapy sessions were incredibly helpful in reducing muscle tightness and relieving pain. After each session, I felt more relaxed and could move more freely. Chiropractic sessions with Dr. Dhaliwal were also a key part of my recovery. His adjustments helped improve my alignment and significantly reduced the stiffness and discomfort I was experiencing. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and made sure I was comfortable throughout each session. Within a few weeks, I noticed major improvements less pain, better movement, and a return to my normal daily routine. The combined approach of physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic care really made the recovery process faster and more effective. The clinic is clean, well organized, and has a very positive and welcoming environment. The front desk staff are friendly and always helpful with booking and insurance related questions. I’m truly grateful to the entire team at Apollo Physio, especially Vidhi, Janki, and Dr. Dhaliwal, for their care and support. I highly recommend them to anyone recovering from a motor vehicle accident or dealing with pain they genuinely care and deliver excellent results.

His hands-on techniques and guided exercises made a huge difference — I could feel the improvement after just a few sessions.
