What It Is and Why It Happens
The anterior cruciate ligament stabilizes the knee against rotation and forward shift, and it tears most often in cutting, pivoting and landing sports — soccer, basketball, hockey, skiing. Treatment is either reconstruction surgery followed by 9–12 months of rehab, or, for some people, structured non-surgical rehab. Either way the physiotherapy is the deciding factor: return-to-sport before strength, control and confidence are restored is the main cause of re-injury.
Our program follows criteria, not the calendar: each phase is unlocked by measured strength, hop and movement-quality tests.
What We Treat
Our physiotherapists at Cityscape Square NE assess and treat:
- ACL tears — pre-surgical conditioning (pre-hab)
- Post-ACL reconstruction rehab (hamstring, patellar tendon, quad grafts)
- Non-surgical ACL management
- ACL with meniscus or MCL injury
- Return-to-sport testing and clearance
- Youth and adolescent ACL injuries
- Re-injury prevention programs
- Knee stiffness or weakness after ACL surgery
How We Rehab ACL Injuries
Pre-hab restores range and quad strength before surgery, which improves outcomes. After surgery, phase one controls swelling and regains full extension and quad activation; phase two builds strength and single-leg control; phase three adds running, plyometrics and agility; phase four is sport-specific training and return-to-sport testing (limb symmetry, hop tests, movement quality). We coordinate with your surgeon’s protocol and your coach. Sports massage and dry needling support recovery.

After my motor vehicle accident, I was dealing with intense neck pain, lower back discomfort, and stiffness that made even simple movements difficult. Coming to Apollo Physio truly made a huge difference in my recovery journey. I received treatment from Vidhi, my physiotherapist, Janki, my massage therapist, and chiropractic care from Dr. Dhaliwal and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Vidhi created a well-structured treatment plan and guided me through exercises that gradually improved my strength and mobility. She explained everything clearly and kept track of my progress at every step. Janki’s massage therapy sessions were incredibly helpful in reducing muscle tightness and relieving pain. After each session, I felt more relaxed and could move more freely. Chiropractic sessions with Dr. Dhaliwal were also a key part of my recovery. His adjustments helped improve my alignment and significantly reduced the stiffness and discomfort I was experiencing. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and made sure I was comfortable throughout each session. Within a few weeks, I noticed major improvements less pain, better movement, and a return to my normal daily routine.
