Conditions A–M

Aching around or behind the kneecap with stairs, squatting, running and sitting with bent knees. Caused by how the kneecap tracks under load. Treated with hip and quad strengthening, running or training modification, taping and footwear review; one of the most reliably improved knee conditions.

Ligament sprains on the inside (MCL) or outside (LCL) of the knee from a sideways force — tackles, skiing, falls. Graded I–III and rehabbed with protection, then range and strength, then return-to-sport criteria; even grade III MCL injuries usually heal without surgery.

Sharp pain on the outside of the knee during running or cycling, from compression where the iliotibial band crosses the knee. Treated with hip strengthening, running form and volume changes, and soft tissue work; foam rolling alone does not fix it.

A pull or tear at the back of the thigh during sprinting or kicking. Rehabbed with progressive eccentric loading (Nordic program), running progression and return-to-sport testing; poor rehab is the main reason hamstrings re-tear.

A sudden pain in the calf during push-off, common in racquet sports and running. Rehabbed with progressive calf loading, walking and running progression; often coexists with Achilles issues.

Wear of the knee cartilage causing morning stiffness, aching with use and swelling. Strengthening is first-line treatment and reduces pain more reliably than rest. See arthritis physiotherapy.

Our Patients Share Their Journey

After my motor vehicle accident, I was dealing with intense neck pain, lower back discomfort, and stiffness that made even simple movements difficult. Coming to Apollo Physio truly made a huge difference in my recovery journey. I received treatment from Vidhi, my physiotherapist, Janki, my massage therapist, and chiropractic care from Dr. Dhaliwal and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Vidhi created a well-structured treatment plan and guided me through exercises that gradually improved my strength and mobility. She explained everything clearly and kept track of my progress at every step. Janki’s massage therapy sessions were incredibly helpful in reducing muscle tightness and relieving pain. After each session, I felt more relaxed and could move more freely. Chiropractic sessions with Dr. Dhaliwal were also a key part of my recovery. His adjustments helped improve my alignment and significantly reduced the stiffness and discomfort I was experiencing. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and made sure I was comfortable throughout each session. Within a few weeks, I noticed major improvements less pain, better movement, and a return to my normal daily routine. The combined approach of physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic care really made the recovery process faster and more effective. The clinic is clean, well organized, and has a very positive and welcoming environment. The front desk staff are friendly and always helpful with booking and insurance related questions. I’m truly grateful to the entire team at Apollo Physio, especially Vidhi, Janki, and Dr. Dhaliwal, for their care and support. Questions About Booking

About Knee & Leg Conditions We Treat

A tear of the knee’s shock-absorbing cartilage from a twist or, in older knees, wear. Causes pain on the joint line, swelling, catching or locking. Most degenerative and many traumatic tears do as well with physiotherapy as with surgery; we rehab and refer when locking persists.

Pain at the bottom of the kneecap with jumping, landing and stairs, from an overloaded patellar tendon. Treated with isometric then heavy slow resistance loading, load management and, for stubborn cases, shockwave.

Pain and a bump below the kneecap in active teens, where the patellar tendon pulls on the growth plate. Managed with load modification, quad and hip strengthening and stretching; it resolves with growth but treatment keeps kids playing.

A strain at the front of the thigh from sprinting, kicking or a direct blow. Treated with graded strengthening, range restoration and sport-specific return.

A fluid-filled swelling behind the knee, usually secondary to arthritis or a meniscus problem. Treating the underlying knee condition reduces the cyst; we manage the joint and refer for aspiration only when needed.

Tight, aching lower legs that come on with running and ease with rest, from pressure building in the muscle compartments. Assessed and managed with running form changes, footwear and strength; we refer for pressure testing when suspected.
