What We Treat in This Region

The hip and pelvis are where the spine meets the legs, and pain here is often mislabelled — hip pain that is really the back, groin pain that is really the hip joint, buttock pain that is really a nerve. Our full pages cover hip pain, hip replacement rehab, diastasis recti, incontinence, prolapse and pregnancy pelvic pain. The conditions below are treated with the same care.

Conditions A–M

Pain on the outer hip, worse lying on that side, climbing stairs or standing on one leg. Now understood as mostly gluteal tendinopathy with some bursal irritation. Treated with progressive glute strengthening, load and sleep positioning advice and manual therapy; injections are rarely needed.

Deep buttock pain, sometimes running down the leg, from a tight piriformis muscle irritating the sciatic nerve. Treated with dry needling, deep tissue massage, hip strengthening and stretching, and correction of the sitting and running habits that drive it. Compare with sciatica.

Overloaded tendons at the side of the hip causing pain with walking, stairs and lying on the side. The main driver of “hip bursitis.” Treated with a progressive loading program and avoidance of compressive positions; typically 8–12 weeks.

Inner thigh pain from a kick, slip or change of direction, common in soccer, hockey and cricket. Graded and rehabbed with progressive adductor loading and sport-specific drills; the Copenhagen program is a staple.

Rebuilding core, pelvic floor and strength after birth, and treating the back, hip and pelvic pain that comes with lifting and feeding a baby. See diastasis recti and pelvic floor physiotherapy.

Our Patients Share Their Journey

After my motor vehicle accident, I was dealing with intense neck pain, lower back discomfort, and stiffness that made even simple movements difficult. Coming to Apollo Physio truly made a huge difference in my recovery journey. I received treatment from Vidhi, my physiotherapist, Janki, my massage therapist, and chiropractic care from Dr. Dhaliwal and I couldn’t have asked for a better team. Vidhi created a well-structured treatment plan and guided me through exercises that gradually improved my strength and mobility. She explained everything clearly and kept track of my progress at every step. Janki’s massage therapy sessions were incredibly helpful in reducing muscle tightness and relieving pain. After each session, I felt more relaxed and could move more freely. Chiropractic sessions with Dr. Dhaliwal were also a key part of my recovery. His adjustments helped improve my alignment and significantly reduced the stiffness and discomfort I was experiencing. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and made sure I was comfortable throughout each session. Within a few weeks, I noticed major improvements less pain, better movement, and a return to my normal daily routine. The combined approach of physiotherapy, massage, and chiropractic care really made the recovery process faster and more effective. The clinic is clean, well organized, and has a very positive and welcoming environment. The front desk staff are friendly and always helpful with booking and insurance related questions. I’m truly grateful to the entire team at Apollo Physio, especially Vidhi, Janki, and Dr. Dhaliwal, for their care and support. I highly recommend them to anyone recovering from a motor vehicle accident or dealing with pain they genuinely care and deliver excellent results.

Questions About Booking

About Hip & Pelvis Conditions We Treat

A pinching groin pain with deep sitting, squatting or twisting, from the ball and socket catching on the cartilage rim. Conservative rehab — hip control, glute and core strength, movement modification — resolves symptoms for many; we refer for surgical opinion when needed.

One-sided low back or buttock pain at the dimple of the pelvis, worse with standing on one leg, stairs or rolling in bed — common in pregnancy and after falls. Treated with SI mobilization or manipulation, pelvic stability exercise and, where needed, a support belt.

Pain at the front of the hip after sprinting, kicking or a sudden lunge, or chronic tightness from sitting. Treated with graded strengthening of the hip flexors, manual therapy and needling, and return-to-sport progression.

Persistent pelvic, perineal or lower abdominal pain lasting more than six months, in women or men, often with an overactive pelvic floor. Treated by our pelvic floor physiotherapist with muscle release, breathing and down-training, and pain education.

Pain at the tailbone with sitting, from a fall, childbirth or prolonged sitting. Treated by our pelvic floor physiotherapist with coccyx mobilization, pelvic floor release and sitting modifications.
